Golf side game
How to play Stableford
For 2 to 6 players.
How it works
Points for each hole’s score against par, and the most points wins.
Points
- Standard: double bogey or worse 0, bogey 1, par 2, birdie 3, eagle 4, albatross 5.
- Modified, as on the PGA Tour: double bogey or worse −3, bogey −1, par 0, birdie 2, eagle 5, albatross 8.
The money
- Per point (the default, $1): each pair of players settles the difference in their points.
- Most points wins: a set amount from each other player; players tied for the most split it.
Handicaps
Net (the default): a player’s strokes on the hole come off their score before the points, with full handicaps or off the low player. Gross: real scores. A pickup scores nothing (−3 with modified points).
Example
Standard points at $1 a point: Ann has 36, Cy 33, Bo 30. Ann collects $6 from Bo and $3 from Cy, and Cy collects $3 from Bo.
This is how Putt for Dough plays it; setup changes the amounts. Free, with no account: one phone keeps score, everyone follows the money live, and settling up is a tap.
