Golf side game

How to play Stroke play

For 2 to 6 players.

How it works

Total score, counting every stroke.

The money

  • Low score wins (the default) is three bets: the lowest total on the front 9, on the back 9 and over the 18 ($5, $5 and $10 to start). For each bet every other player pays the low total the stake; players tied for low split it. A bet set at $0 is left out, so $0, $0 and $10 is the 18 alone.
  • Per stroke: each pair of players settles the difference in their totals over the 18, so much a stroke.

When it settles

A nine settles once everyone has played its last hole, and the score screen says so. Until then it’s in play: the Money tab shows who’s leading and what it would pay, apart from the money already decided.

Handicaps

Net (the default, full handicaps) or gross.

Example

Four players, $5 on the front 9. Ann and Di shoot 40, Bo 42, Cy 44. Ann and Di tie for low: Bo and Cy each pay $5, and Ann and Di split the $10.
